Help for Undocumented Youth Seeking Deferred Action Status

There are a lot of questions about the process for undocumented youth to request the temporary status known as deferred action.  Fortunately, there are a number of organizations in our area that are geared up and ready to answer questions to help DREAMers request relief from deportation.  Some of the local organizations that are conducting workshops and informational sessions to assist DREAMers can be found in the attached DREAMERs Guide document.

Evaluation Study of Prince William County’s Illegal Immigration Enforcement Policy
The University of Virginia, Center for Survey Research completed a study of the implementation of Prince William County’s immigration enforcement policy. The study, released in November of 2010 draws attention to the uniqueness of Prince William County’s controversial policy and enforcement implementation. The report [An] Evalutaion Study of Prince William County’s Illegal Immigration Enforcement Policy : FINAL REPORT highlights a number of situations that had an impact on the county’s immigrant population. The involvement of many of these economic and administrative situations were determined to be difficult to isolate. Because of the number of socio-economic variables involved the report concludes that the enforcement policy alone may not have been directly related to reductions in the county’s resident immigrant population. Jurisdictions that might seek to emulate the county’s policy are cautioned that the Prince William experience may have resulted from numerous factors and may not be reproducible in other times and places.
